BWOC is an organisation that supports inclusiveness. Everyone is welcome to talk to a Leader about participating in an activity.
Brisbane Water Outdoors Club Inc – BWOC – is based on the Central Coast of New South Wales. The Club began in January 1978 with a membership of about 30, mostly couples with young children. They enjoyed camping and had a love of the outdoors. The activities included bushwalking, canoeing, white water canoeing, caving, cross country skiing, abseiling and canyoning. Over the ensuing years, activities have reflected the Club members’ interests and strengths. We generally have a membership between 150 and 200.
BWOC is an incorporated association and is affiliated with Bushwalking NSW. The Club adheres to their Code of Ethics which includes Minimal Impact Bushwalking. Through Bushwalking NSW, the Club has insurance cover for public liability, for Club meetings and personal accident insurance for members participating in BWOC activities.
The Club holds bi-monthly General Meetings on the first Wednesday of February, April, June, August (AGM) and November, commencing at 7.30pm at the Narara Neighbourhood Centre, 2-12 Pandala Road, Narara. After the General Meeting we enjoy refreshments followed by either a calendar planning session where all members led by Activity Co-ordinators develop the club’s calendar for the next 3 months, or a presentation by a guest speaker.
Our monthly magazine, Open Spaces, and a weekly update email The GrapeVine are the main avenues of communication with our members.
